Human Rights Forum works in the Pakistan and abroad to
create a secure and humane world by advancing justice, human
dignity and respect for the rule of law. We work to protect
individuals at risk: Refugees fleeing persecution, victims of
crimes against humanity or other mass human rights violations,
victims of discrimination, those whose rights are eroded in the
name of national security and human rights advocates who are
targeted for defending the rights of others.
Human Rights Forum is currently seeking a professional, highly
skilled Training Coordinator. The objective of this role is to
serve as a focal point for HRF’s organizational learning and
professional development. The training coordinator will develop
and track progress for a new HRF training program to train staff
at all levels: managers, individual contributors, fellows and
interns. The training program will cover practical skills
training, informational workshops, new hire orientation, and
management training. The training coordinator will create ways to
facilitate learning and personal development across HRF,
leveraging internal expertise whenever possible, but also bringing
in outside experts when appropriate. The training coordinator will
also oversee HRF’s training reimbursement program, ensuring the
rules of the program are clearly communicated to staff, and
working with Finance to develop budget and track actual
reimbursements.

Primary responsibilities will include:
• Developing modules of
training program in (4) general areas:
-
Human rights advocacy
and relevant skills training, including but not limited to:
writing workshops, advocacy workshops, how-to design a research
project, human rights research, mission training, media training,
legal and paralegal workshops, training on key topics relating to
international human rights; lobbying, ethics and rules of a
organization; and technology skills.

Informational workshops
sometimes referred to as brown-bags, on the work of various staff
members and other topics of interest to the staff in the field of
human rights.
-
New-hire orientation
including organizational history, program overview, budgets and
funding. Develop a system for assigning buddies for new-hires, and
analyze options for a formal mentorship program.

Management and
leadership training on an ongoing basis for existing managers.
This training should include strategic planning, project
management, performance management, recruiting/ interviewing,
interpersonal skills and conflict resolution, effective decision
making, supporting staff and cultivating institutional
citizenship, running quality meetings, time management. Also
develop tailored leadership training for those who are newly
promoted to supervisory/management positions.
• Compiling needs
assessment and best practice data on which training courses
provide the most value to each group;
• Collecting and analyzing metrics, including course evaluations,
to determine the impact and effectiveness of HRF training
programs. Suggests program adjustments as needed to improve
results;
• Providing follow-up to course participants to reinforce and
improve effectiveness of training classes;
• Overseeing administration of training programs, including but
not limited to, scheduling, vendor contracts, participant
enrollments and communication, and publishing and distributing
materials;
• In some cases, serving as lead trainer, delivering training in a
classroom setting or through distance learning technologies (e.g.
web-based training);
• Coordinating HRF’s internship program.

The ideal candidate
will have the following qualifications:

Bachelor Degree or
equivalent in organization development, organization psychology,
organization behavior or related field;
-
Knowledge, experience
and commitment to human rights;
-
Skills: Presentation
skills, facilitation, training, consultation, coaching, project
management, organizational agility, business acumen;
-
Intermediate knowledge
of training methodologies, adult learning requirements,
facilitation, needs assessment, and measurement;
-
Basic knowledge of
change management;
-
Basic knowledge of best
practices in developing leaders and experience applying these best
practices within organizations;
-
Intermediate project
management skills and excellent verbal and written skills;
-
Strong problem
identification skills;
-
Intermediate or better
skills with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel;
-
Ability to assume
personal accountability for aligning training initiatives to
business results;
-
Certified Professional
in Learning and Performance (CPLP) or willing to obtain;
-
Ability to deliver
experiential and distance learning.
